Microsoft ships 90 Million Windows 7 copies

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

It’s only been a month since Microsoft announced that Windows 7 had outsold Vista during the same time period in its life with 60 million copies sold.

Apple shares at a high on Tablet speculation

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

Microsoft could see a two-pronged attack in 2010 hitting both ends of their consumer market for Windows 7.  It’s no secret that Google will be launching into the netbook / low end market by the end of the year with Chrome OS, but there’s been fervent speculation about a forthcoming Tablet computer from Apple, frankly the only company who can revolutionise this market and make “the next big thing every year since 2002” sexy at last. As if industry watchers know that Santa delivered a very special package to Steve Jobs on Christmas day, Apple shares have risen by more than 11% in the last three weeks, and received an additional 1% push yesterday. This is fuelling speculation that the big announcement will come on January 26th at San Francisco’s Buena Centre which they have booked for a “major product announcement”.

No More Windows 7 Family Pack Deal In The US, But Available In The UK

Monday, December 7th, 2009

The Windows 7 Family Pack offer from Microsoft represented great value for users who needed more than one copy of Windows 7  - for $149.99 you got 3 copies of Windows 7 Home Premium .  After noticing over the weekend that Windows 7 Family Pack copies were becoming hard to find, Microsoft have formally pulled the offer and visitors to the US Microsoft Family Pack website are presented with the message “The Windows 7 Family Pack Offer has ended”. The situation seems to be different in the UK, where sites are still advertising the Windows 7 Family Pack.  It’s still being promoted on the UK Microsoft site: and is still available for sale at Amazon UK : That’s not to say that the Windows 7 Family Pack offer won’t be pulled in the UK soon, if you are planning on buying Windows 7 I’d do so now to save money. Microsoft’s decision to pull the offer could be because Windows 7 sales are naturally strong and further incentives are not needed

‘Twas the Night before Christmas: As Interpreted by Google Voice

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

Clement Clarke Moore’s poem essentially invented the modern-day image of Santa Clause. So I thought it was only fitting that the online message-handling system that’s revolutionizing the way we think of personal phone numbers and voice mail should get a shot at reinterpreting “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” for a new generation. To make it happen, I called my Google Voice number and read Moore’s chestnut into the phone. I did my best to speak clearly and slowly, but not so slowly that the rhythm of the original story was lost. The unedited results are below
