Yahoo on Thursday started a slow roll-out of its integration with Facebook Connect by allowing users to import e-mail addresses from the social networking site. “In addition to importing your contacts from sites like Gmail and Windows Live Hotmail, starting this week you can now easily add your Facebook friends’ email addresses to your Yahoo contacts list,” Yahoo wrote in a blog post . Yahoo announced in December that it would link up to Facebook Connect in 2010, a move that will eventually let members check their Facebook statuses from the Yahoo Mail inbox, and access Facebook features across other Yahoo properties, like News, Answers, and Sports.

Customizing Options in Word 2010 (Beta) In this post we’ll look at a new and excellent feature available in all applications within Office 2010 (Beta). I’ll explain the process using Word 2010 as an example, but before I do, let’s consider a little history. Right from the early days of Word, the Menu Bar and the accompanying toolbars, Standard and Formatting were widely used as they contained common commands. With the introduction of Word 2007, these useful features were dispensed with and, in their place, Microsoft added the ubiquitous Ribbon Bar

Two things have bugged me with Windows Live Messenger in Windows 7: I don’t like the way the Windows Live Messenger icon stays permanently in the Windows 7 Taskbar I don’t get sound notifications when I get a new message I have a solution to the first problem, but if anyone has a fix for the 2nd then please let me know. To move the Windows Live Messenger icon from the windows 7 notification area: right-click on your windows live messenger icon shortcut and click ‘Properties’ Go to the Compatibility tab and choose to run it in ‘Windows Vista (Service Pack 2)’ mode Your Live Messenger icon will now be back in its usual place in your system tray. If you can’t see it then you might need to customise your notification area settings to ’show icon and notifications’ for Windows Live Messenger. I’m not sure if this tweak will work for other programs, but it’s a worth a try.
